Android Setup Guide ​

Configuring your Android device to use our public DNS resolvers enhances your privacy and security while browsing the internet. Follow these steps to manually set up DNS on your device.

Method 1: Using Private DNS (Android 9 and Above) ​

  1. Open Settings
  2. Navigate to Network & Internet
  3. Tap on Advanced > Private DNS
  4. Select "Private DNS provider hostname"
  5. Enter our DNS hostname:
    resolver.dnsprivacy.org.uk
  6. Tap Save

Your device will now use our DNS resolvers for all internet connections.

Method 2: Configuring DNS for Wi-Fi Networks ​

For older Android versions or Wi-Fi-specific settings:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Wi-Fi and connect to your preferred network
  3. Tap and hold the network, then select "Modify network"
  4. Select Advanced options
  5. Change IP settings to "Static"
  6. Enter the DNS addresses manually:
    • Primary DNS: 209.250.227.42
    • Secondary DNS: 64.176.190.82
  7. Save the settings and reconnect to the network

Verifying Your Configuration ​

Visit the UK DNS Project homepage to verify that your system is using the configured DNS.
